We always start by asking you about your business, and how you see it operating, what you see as the challenges, and where you want it to go.
Once we have some background from the experts in the room, we start to follow our processes to test the information we have received, and look to benchmark your business against competitors and other industries. Once we are in this mode, we will start to question you again. This will start to uncover where the significant challenges lie, and also where the opportunities are probably hiding. Whilst the details of each business may be quite unique, and the processes they follow quite different, we find that most businesses are in existence for similar reasons, and trying to achieve similar goals. We are here to break through the complications and find realistic solutions that you can implement to improve your business.
The biggest benefit of engaging a consultant is that they are not biased by the politics and history of your organisation and they have seen many different ways that numerous businesses use to achieve quite similar outcomes. This means we can give you options with a fairly good idea of how likely each one is to be successful in your case.
This would be the most common view of a lot of consultants and in some cases it is probably pretty accurate.
Indeed sometimes that is exactly what you might need. There are a number of analogies one could draw upon - do you know whether you have set your watch to the correct time? Were you so busy working, that you missed the daylight savings change? Does your watch have a whole lot of features that you have never used, or maybe even never knew it had? Is your watch now outdated, and all of your competitors are getting ahead with better ones?
What we can do is check all of those things. We have been into a number of different businesses, and can draw on a wealth of experience to make sure that "your watch" is in the right mode, telling the right time and so on, perhaps even making sure you have the right watch to suit your style...
Sometimes it is extremely valuable for a business owner or leader to seek another opinion of how things are going, even if you think they are probably OK. We follow a set of processes to make sure that we always analyse the critical elements of your business and are able to bring an unbiased, clear view of how things are progressing. If we see what you see, that means we can quickly establish an action plan to get things moving. Of course we may both see that nothing much needs doing - that is also a great result and offers a great deal of comfort for you and your team, that someone else has been able to independently verify that your hard work really is paying off.
